I love Aqua!
I whipped this banner up in a jiffy! I had seen variations of it lots of places, and couldn't wait to make my own. I used fabrics that I've been hoarding for a while (I do that, until I find something special to use them on). The plaid aqua fabric actually came from a pair of Ralph Lauren capris my mom used to own, I couldn't imagine just giving them away, so I took the rotary cutter to them. This was a lot of fun to make, and hopefully I'll be making some more and putting them up on Etsy.
These were made with the intentions of writing Happy Birthday on them...still not sure how I'm going to do that, but it's a thought! Although I've already used them once at a Labor Day party, so it was nice that they didn't say Happy Birthday :)

Welcome, Autumn
A close-up of the hashbrowns:
I also cooked up some beef stew one Sunday afternoon. This bad boy took 2 1/2 hours to cook! This was really my first time cooking with beef (give me a break, I was a vegetarian for a LONG time). I thought the beef was going to come out hard as a rock, but it was surprisingly and deliciously tender. I drained some of the extra sauce and put it over the dog's food :)
I also made some yummy garlic bread to accompany this meal.
Mama's recipe for chicken pot pie...Chris really loves this, so I try to make it frequently.

Sewing Room Facelift
And here's a picture of Sheeba just for fun. She likes to look at herself in the mirror!
Lots of craftiness going on...
The Phantom Plumber
Lots more plumbing adventures have been going on here...a broken toilet, a leaky outside faucet and a phantom plumber to fix them all (we promise the blog isn't going to be all about plumbing problems :) ) The above picture is when Eddie came over to fix our outside faucet. If ya'll know him, all he needs is food and he's happy.

Our July 4th Spectacular
Welcome to our first post!
For the Fourth of July, we were invited to a friend's house for a shindig. For the backyard BBQ theme, we decided to make potato salad. As usual, Chris was put in charge of peeling the potatoes. Five pounds of potatoes later, the salad was well on it's way to being enjoyed and the sink overfloweth with water. Now, if you're going to go clogging your pipes on a holiday, you better be friends with a plumber, because let me tell you, those holiday rates are a drag. Not only are we friends, but also family with the newest master plumber around. Young Edwardo came to the rescue in less than five minutes. It helped that we told him there was food involved, and not just that in the sink :)
After showing Chris a thing or two, Eddie decided that the culprit of the sink clog was way of the potato peel. Apparently, putting five pounds of potato peel down your sink isn’t the way to go. Hello! What are garbage disposers for?!?
Thanks Eddie, we love you!
